Located in the southeast corner of Nye County, Pahrump is approximately 60 miles west of the Las Vegas strip and 60 miles east of Death Valley. The Pahrump Valley is 28 miles long and approximately 9 miles wide. Surrounding the Valley are the Spring Mountains to the East and the Nopah Mountains to the West.

The Southern Paiutes, who occupied the Pahrump Valley centuries ago, named it "Pah" meaning water and "Rimpi" meaning stone or rock. Pah Rimpi became Pahrump, the Paiute description for springs or flowing waters emerging from rock.

This quiet, peaceful city is a beautiful place to live away from the hustle of Las Vegas. Home and land prices are basically lower than Las Vegas, but rising very quickly as demand is increasing. The Pahrump Valley is the driest region, enjoying the lowest relative humidity in the country, and with 216 sunny days per year, is second only to Yuma, Arizona.
